Learn Master Piano Will Barrow

The Learn And Master piano course is a comprehensive course for everybody that want to learn piano. This course will appeal to those that don’t want to use a computer to learn piano. It comes with 14 DVDs that can be used with a TV and a DVD player. It probably the closest you will get to actually having a teacher in the room with you.

This course also comes with five audio CDs and a music book. The idea is to get you playing popular songs as soon as possible. The CDs will allow you to play along with actual musicians. It’s a bit like karaoke, but instead of singing with a band, you’re playing the piano with a band. It’s a great way to learn.

This course also gives you a great teacher with an impressive bio. Will Barrow is a composer a singer songwriter and a piano teacher. He has played on Broadway in New York, won a Grammy and he has a Masters degree from Manhattan School of Music. How that for a piano teacher.

If you play the piano or guitar and you want to make some extra money, especially now, with the recession starting to bite hard, then keep reading. I will show you how to teach piano or guitar in your local area with the help of how teach piano and how teach guitar student courses from learn and master.

Essential Requirements

There’s actually only one essential requirement and that is that you can play the piano or guitar to a reasonable standard, that means you are comfortable playing in front of people or an audience. Amateur, semi-pro or even professional players can teach piano or guitar and even in this recession, there’s lots of people still want to learn to play piano, keyboards, drums and guitar and they are willing to pay good money for it. So, are you ready to get started, do you want to make extra cash, then let’s get cracking.

What To Do First

Okay, the very first thing to do is make the decision to start teaching, don’t think about it, don’t procrastinate, just say to yourself, I’m going to do this and I’m going to get my first student and start teaching. Next, you need to answer these questions:

Where Am I Going To Teach?

You have three options, you can teach at your home, you can go mobile and teach in the student’s home and you can teach in your local music shop. I’ve done all three but I prefer teaching in my local music shop and the mobile option which I do at the moment. Don’t be apprehensive about approaching the owners of music shops because they will benefit from your presence with increased sales from your students. You should also pay a percentage of your lessons fee to the music shop for use of musical instruments, electricity, heat etc. For example, I charge £15.00 per half hour lesson and pay £3.00 of that to the music shop. This is a tremendous benefit to you both, as I said above music shop owners make money from an empty space in their shop plus increased sales and you get all your students in one place with a choice of musical instruments to use, no bills to pay and you also save on petrol costs.

How Do I Find My Piano And Guitar Students?

Again the music shop is a great source of potential students but I recommend finding your first student yourself through advertising. This will be a small classified ad in you local newspaper. Here an example of an ad that I used:

It wont cost much and I guarantee you will get lots of enquires and you only need one student to pay for your ad, but you’ll probably end up with a lot more. When you have a few students on your books, then you can approach the music shop and grow your student list from there.

What Teaching Materials Do I Need?

This is the part that frightens potential teachers because, yes, they can play but how do they communicate that knowledge to a complete beginner. I must admit when I first started, this did freak me out a bit but I was fortunate in that I could watch other teachers at work and copied their method and tried it out with one student and after that I never looked back and I’ve been teaching for over 30 years.

So, to answer the question, you need a how teach piano and how teach guitar teaching plan from legacy learning systems. How To Use Learn And Master Home School Edition Courses

Each course contains everything you need to learn and more importantly for you, teach piano or guitar. You will start with the 68 Page Teacher’s Guide and the Teacher’s Resource Set, this will tell you what is required from the student and you just copy what the course is telling you and transfer that to the student. Your student will need a lesson book and these courses come with a 100 page lesson book, obviously you need to keep that lesson book so you need to provide your student with the same lesson book, you have a few options here on how to go about this. When you have bought the course you will have access to a learn and master resources page which will provide you with essential downloads such as chord sheets and of course lesson books, these are in PDF format. Just download these resources and provide a complete lesson book for your student to use on an iPad or laptop for FREE, or, you can print out the lessons you need and give that to your students, or, you can print out the complete book and make your own lesson books, or, you could order extra lesson books from the learn and master website to sell to your students.

Okay, many of you that have visited my site know that I am a keyboard player and I have played professionally for many years. I also teach piano, keyboard and electric organ. So why I am I writing a review about learning to play the guitar?  Good question and Ill get to that in a moment. Because I have references to Learn and Master Guitar on my site I am constantly being asked to write a review and I have always put it off because I am not a guitarist. I dabble a little bit, I can knock a tune out on one string but do I consider myself a guitarist, definitely not. So in answer to the question above, I am going to write this review from a beginner’s point of view because that’s what I am, okay I know the musical theory part but not the actual guitar playing part.

You’ll notice the word intense in the title and that’s because I want to get in to bones of this course, so I am going to look at the DVDs and write about the content starting with Disc 1. Now there are 20 DVDs in this course, so at this point I haven’t decided whether to cover the whole 20 discs, Ill just start with disc 1 and see where it goes.

As many of you know I always own the courses I review and I spend a lot of time studying the material to provide the best information for the reader to make a qualified decision on whether to buy the courses I review.

Let’s Get To The Master Guitar Review

So let’s start with a brief overview of the course as a whole. Learn and master guitar contains 20 DVDs 5 CDs and a 100 page lesson book. Everything is contained in a very professional looking binder. All learn and master courses are posted worldwide from Nashville in the US. The company who produce and distribute these courses are known as Legacy Learning Systems and their goal is to provide the very highest quality learning courses at an affordable price.

How Does The Learn And Master Guitar Course Work

The idea is a simple one but very effective. In general you will have a guitar teacher available to you in your home 24/7 via the DVDs. Your teacher is called Steve Krenz who is a professional musician with a degree in music, in fact his CV is very impressive in the music world and you can read his bio HERE.

The Learn and Master Guitar DVDs



Each DVD contains two sessions and each session contains a number of lessons a workshop section and an assignment depending on which disc you are using. For example disc one has two sessions, session one has nine lessons plus a workshop and session two has six lessons plus a workshop, plus each session has an assignment to complete before carrying on. I’ll go more into what’s on disc 1 later.

The Lessons Book



The lesson book compliments the DVDs exactly and when your are shown musical notation and guitar tab on the DVD it is also in the lesson book and at any time you can pause the DVD and use the lesson book to practice that particular section. This is particularly useful as Steve Krenz will give you examples to play and then you copy, and its at this point that you would pause the DVD and play what Steve has just taught you and using the lesson book will keep the example he just showed you, fresh in your mind.

The CDs



The CDs are essentially Jam along CDs, that means when you have learned to play your first tune which in this case will be “Ode To Joy” you can put the CD on and play along with the band on the CD. There are three versions of each tune to follow, slow, medium and fast. Not only is this great fun but its an important part of your training in that it helps you with your timing and when you can play and keep up with the fast version, your off and running. Also the first track of every CD is used to tune your guitar and each string is sounded three times, you just tune your guitar to match the sound on the CD so you are in perfect tune with the band, it’s very simple.

What Kind Of Guitar Can I Use With Learn And Master Guitar?

This is actually a good question and one that I also wondered about before getting this course, the answer is any six string guitar can be used with this course. Initially when learning to play the guitar the principles are the same for acoustic and electric guitar, in fact on the very first DVD Steve Krenz uses an acoustic and an electric guitar. Obviously different types of guitars have different playing styles and fortunately that’s covered in this course as well.

OK, with what I’ve seen so far, I am super impressed, from the initial first impressions to the content of the just the first disc. I mentioned above that I would look at the content in disc one in detail and I will, in a separate article because this review has become very long and I don’t want to bore my readers and there is more content on disc one than I first thought so keep calling by, I should have a review of disc one up within a couple of weeks.
